I stumbled across porn on tumblr in a rare moment of non-naughty web surfing. A few tag clicks later I found this: hardcorefun.tumblr.com
The owner of this blog publishes a stream of the best porn he finds around as well as re-posting porn of other Tumblr. Think of it as a tap dispensing a never ending flow of porn (generating millions of page views per day.)
What about Tumblr’s terms of service? Do they allow xrated stuff?
There is no mention of adult content whatsoever which means… yep, go ahead, publish whatever you want.
Not quite. In their Content Policy they state that Accounts that use Tumblr’s Video Upload feature to regularly upload and host sexually explicit or pornographic material will be suspended.
So pics are OK but not videos?
This is somewhat surprising in this day and age but commendable – well done for keeping an open mind.

What I didn’t like about Tumblr
Three things.
Firstly, you can’t comment on posts. You can like and reblog but you can’t share your enthusiasm about a pic.
The second issue is that many blogs simply reblog what they find. This means that they publish the pic appearing on another Tumblr blog. The same stuff is regurgitated over and over again and it’s easy to get lost. Kinda.
The third point is my main point of contention. Much of the porn you see has been scraped off a website and posted.
The owner of hardcorefun.tumblr.com, for example, says it how it is:

Not quite fair on those who invest $$$ in getting the quality stuff published in the first place. I think this may become a major issue for Tumblr the same way YouTube had to negotiate with the music industry.
